Drilling in Europe: technology - safety - legislation

Tunnels in transport infrastructures
From design to implementation of works

Wednesday 5 March 2008, 14.00 - 18.00 / Thursday 6 March, 9.15 - 13.30
Rossini Hall - Arena Conference Centre

SIG (Società Italiana Gallerie - Italian Tunnelling Society) continues its long-standing involvement with Samoter in full awareness of the multi-discipline approach required today to identify the best design and executive solutions for tunnelling work. This convention will discuss various specialisation topics focusing on excavation and support methods, using traditional approaches, based on mass equilibrium (ADECO) and mechanised systems with full-section drills (TBM), as well as safety and a focus on the environment in implementation and operating stages.
Given the increasing globalisation of the sector, alongside other events organised on a European scale by sister associations, organisation of this conference also includes associations based in France (AFTES), Spain (AETOS) and Switzerland (GTS) which, like SIG, are members of the International Tunnelling Association (ITA-AITES).
This traditional appointment will be attended by leading experts in the sector, Actuators, Major Companies and Machinery/Technology manufacturers and all other parties engaged in ensuring the best use of "underground resources" as an essential approach to sustainable development.
